Overview

Carbon Black Content Tester

The VicoMeter VICOMETER carbon black content tester is suitable for determining carbon black content in polyethylene, polypropylene, polybutene plastics, cable and optical cable insulation and sheath materials, and rubber. It complies with GBT 3515-2005, GBT 13021-2023, GB/T2951.41-2008, IEC60811-4-1:2004, and other standards. A certain amount of sample is pyrolyzed at high temperature in a nitrogen flow, and the carbon black content is obtained by analyzing the sample weight after pyrolysis.

One-Button Operation Design

Simple operation with no installation, commissioning, or training required — ready to use out of the box. The color capacitive touch screen design displays sample status in real time, and the one-button measurement design with a friendly human-machine interface makes operation easy for users.

Applicable Industries

Wide Range of Applications

Materials Science:In plastics production, precise control of carbon black content is essential to product quality. When manufacturing black plastic pipes, for example, carbon black content is measured to ensure the pipes deliver good weatherability, mechanical properties, and aging resistance.

New Product Development:When developing new plastic materials, it is essential to understand exactly how carbon black content affects material properties. In the development of high-impact polystyrene, for instance, a carbon black content analyzer can be used to study how different carbon black loadings influence mechanical and electrical performance, allowing the formulation to be optimized.

Production Process Monitoring:Carbon black is a key additive in rubber manufacturing. Measuring carbon black content verifies that the correct amount is being added and keeps product performance consistent. In tire production, for example, precise control of carbon black content gives tires excellent abrasion resistance, tear resistance, and electrical conductivity.

Scrap Rubber Recycling:When recycling scrap rubber, the carbon black content must be determined so the reclaimed rubber formulation can be adjusted appropriately. A carbon black content analyzer accurately reveals the residual carbon black in scrap rubber, providing reliable data support for reclaimed rubber production.

Insulation Material Testing:Cable insulation typically contains a certain amount of carbon black to improve weatherability and electrical performance. A carbon black content analyzer can verify the carbon black content of insulation materials, ensuring safe cable operation under diverse environmental conditions.

Sheath Material Quality Inspection:The carbon black content of cable sheathing has a major bearing on its mechanical properties and aging resistance. Measuring carbon black content makes it possible to evaluate sheath material quality and safeguard cable service life.

In addition, in coatings, inks, and other industries, carbon black content analyzers are also used to control carbon black dosage, achieving the desired color, hiding power, and performance.
