VicoMeter WKT-VST400DW — The Vicat Softening Temperature (VST) is the temperature at which a thermoplastic specimen, placed in a liquid heat-transfer medium under a specified load and a constant heating rate, is penetrated to a depth of 1 mm by a 1 mm² needle; the corresponding national standard is GB/T 1633-2000. VST is one of the indicators used to evaluate a material's heat resistance, reflecting the physical and mechanical properties of a product under heated conditions. Although VST cannot be used directly to evaluate a material's actual service temperature, it can guide quality control. The higher the Vicat softening temperature, the better the material's dimensional stability when heated and the smaller the thermal deformation — that is, the better its resistance to heat deformation, the greater its rigidity, and the higher its modulus.
