The VicoMeter WKT-VST100DW HDT/Vicat softening point temperature tester features 1 station, PC software control for operation and analysis, natural cooling or water cooling, and a specimen-frame lifting function to raise or lower the frame at test start or end. It is mainly used to determine the HDT and Vicat softening point temperature of non-metallic materials such as plastics, rubber, nylon and electrical insulation materials. The product complies with ISO 75(E), ISO 306(E), GB/T 8802, GB/T 1633, GB/T 1634 and other standards, widely used for HDT and Vicat measurement of plastics, rubber, nylon, electrical insulation materials, chemical building materials and more.
Overview
The Vicat Softening Temperature (VST) measured by the VicoMeter WKT-VST100DW is the temperature at which a thermoplastic specimen, placed in a liquid heat-transfer medium under a given load and constant heating rate, is penetrated 1 mm by a 1 mm² indenting needle; the corresponding national standard is GB/T 1633-2000. VST is an indicator of heat resistance, reflecting physical-mechanical properties under heating. Although it cannot directly evaluate actual service temperature, it guides quality control. The higher the VST, the better the dimensional stability under heat and the smaller the thermal deformation—better heat-deformation resistance, greater rigidity and higher modulus.
