I. Overview of the LVD Low Voltage Directive

The LVD Low Voltage Directive (Low Voltage Directive 2014/35/EU) is the regulatory directive harmonizing the laws of Member States relating to electrical equipment designed for use within certain voltage limits. The objective of the LVD is to ensure the safety of low-voltage equipment in use. The directive applies to electrical products with voltage ratings of 50V–1500V AC and 75V–1500V DC, and it covers all safety rules for such equipment, including protection against hazards arising from mechanical causes.
