A balance that uses electromagnetic force to counteract the gravity of the object being weighed is called an electronic balance; some of these are called analytical balances. They feature accurate, reliable weighing, fast and clear display, an automatic detection system, a convenient automatic calibration device and overload protection.
ChinaHistory and Development of the "Electronic Balance"
Research on electronic balances in China began in the late 1970s, with early products modeled on imported balances.
In the early 1980s, major manufacturers such as Shanghai Balance Instrument Factory, Shenyang Balance Factory, Changshu Weighing Apparatus Factory and Xiangyi Balance Factory began developing electronic balances or replicating early foreign products, but immature technology prevented scaled production.
As China's reform and opening up accelerated in the mid-1980s, the domestic balance industry introduced electronic balance production technology from developed countries and engaged inSKD (semi-knocked-down) assembly, accumulating experience. Building on this, the industry absorbed the products and technologies for domestic production, applied microprocessor control, and focused on mastering electromagnetic force sensor manufacturing—enabling China's electronic balances to rapidly catch up with world advanced levels in general weighing applications.
By the early 1990s, production had reached a certain scale. Manufacturers such as Shanghai Balance Factory, Shenyang Longteng, Changshu Weighing Apparatus Factory and Xiangyi Balance Factory could mass-produce electronic balances for the domestic market, with weighing ranges from100 g/0.1 mg to 50 kg/1 g.
In the first eight years of the 21st century, new Chinese electronic balance manufacturers continued to emerge. With rising market demand, the industry's production capacity reached a considerable scale, supplying the domestic market and exporting internationally.
