Xinrun Paper purchased the VicoMeter WKT-R-50ZS online near-infrared moisture analyzer, which serves any industry needing rapid moisture determination and can test chemical raw materials, grain, wood chips, and more online. Because NIR light is repeatedly reflected, refracted, diffracted, and absorbed within the sample, the spectrum carries rich structural and compositional information, with each substance showing characteristic absorption.

The WKT-R-50ZS online NIR analyzer serves industries needing rapid moisture determination, testing chemical raw materials, grain, wood shavings, and more online. NIR spectroscopy qualitatively and quantitatively analyzes organics: specific wavelengths pass through lens, filter wheel, and mirror onto the material; absorbed and scattered light is focused onto the NIR sensor, whose processor feeds reference and measurement signals to the host for rapid moisture display.

VicoMeter at the Customer Site

The customer applies sizing to paper and bought the WKT-R-50ZS to measure paper moisture after sizing and drying, testing across the entire web width — uneven drying across the web would cause skewed rolls during winding.

Before the engineer arrived, the customer had installed a metal horizontal adjustment device in direct contact with the probe and main unit — risking mainboard damage from external currents. The engineer had it replaced with a plastic base before installation and commissioning.

During initial commissioning, the engineer overlooked that the sensor sat behind two rollers with the static eliminator off, so readings jumped erratically soon after stabilizing. Feeling obvious static on the paper surface, the engineer cut the power immediately and found the eliminator switched off. After turning it on and restoring power, the instrument stabilized.
