Ranju (Shanghai) Advanced Materials
This time Ranju purchased our WKT-C1 Karl Fischer moisture analyzer. The VicoMeter WKT-C1 offers rich calculation functions, with the calculation method for each analysis mode preset in the instrument. Multiple results — moisture percentage, moisture ppm, absolute water content of the sample, and Karl Fischer reagent volume consumed — are displayed simultaneously, and a dynamic color titration curve is shown during titration, letting you browse more instrument parameters and analysis results at a glance and promptly identify and suppress any possible side reactions.
The WKT-C1 "Smart" Karl Fischer moisture analyzer is a fully automatic moisture analysis system jointly developed by VicoMeter's R&D department and the 53rd Research Institute of China North Industries Group. Using the volumetric principle, it measures moisture down to 10 ppm and determines solids, liquids, and powders within 30 seconds. Its RS232 port connects printers, balances, computers, and other peripherals; it stores 100 data sets; and its separate 7-inch capacitive touchscreen runs an embedded micro Windows system — powerful, with clear operation prompts and flexible user interaction. In 2010, with help on ultra-precision displacement measurement from the State Key Laboratory of Precision Measurement Technology and Instruments at Tsinghua University, the WKT-C1 titration system was further improved, raising its measurement accuracy once again. The WKT-C1 complies with multiple national and international moisture standards and with pharmacopoeia requirements and is widely used in chemicals, petroleum, pharmaceuticals, power, food, batteries, plastics, research, and testing.
The customer had been testing samples with a halogen moisture analyzer, but the product requires moisture to be kept below 500 ppm to stay qualified. Measuring moisture around 500 ppm is difficult for a halogen moisture analyzer, and because the samples are somewhat volatile, halogen results always ran high. On the VicoMeter sales engineer's advice, the customer decided to use a Karl Fischer moisture analyzer instead.
Because the customer's samples are black and contain small granular matter, the engineer was concerned that coulometric titration would shorten the generating electrode's life, and recommended the volumetric method. After commissioning, the engineer tested the customer's sample A three times, getting 0.082%, 0.087%, and 0.085% — stable results about 0.02% lower than the customer's halogen method — and the customer was satisfied with the results.
As the first company in China to independently develop polyurethane foam products, Ranju spares no effort on R&D, with successful product lines for dust sealing, light blocking, shock absorption, noise reduction, thermal insulation, and flame retardancy. In 2016 it teamed up with Beijing University of Chemical Technology and the Fengxian District government in Shanghai to establish a technology transfer center. In precision polymer forming and processing, Ranju leverages the university's R&D resources and research results plus the district government's policy support to strengthen its innovation capability and bring research outcomes to market, delivering both economic and social benefits.
