Customer Profile

Zhejiang Xinjin Air Conditioning Equipment purchased the VicoMeter WKT-A9 Precision Karl Fischer moisture analyzer. The VicoMeter WKT-A9 Precision Karl Fischer trace moisture analyzer uses the coulometric Karl Fischer (coulometry) principle to rapidly measure trace moisture in samples, detecting water down to 0.001 ppm and determining trace moisture in solids, liquids, and powders within one minute. The built-in printer and storage for 500 data sets allow real-time query and printout. Innovative guided prompts and a built-in e-manual make operation simple. The WKT-A9 complies with multiple national and international moisture standards and provides eight built-in moisture calculation formulas and six determination methods to meet the moisture testing needs of every industry. Widely used in chemicals, petroleum, pharmaceuticals, power, food, research, and testing, it is a Karl Fischer moisture analyzer built for mid-to-high-end applications.

VicoMeter at the Customer Site

The customer purchased the VicoMeter WKT-A9 Precision Karl Fischer moisture analyzer mainly to test the moisture content in air-conditioning valves. Testing the moisture content in valves relies on carrier gas (99.999% high-purity nitrogen) to blow the moisture in the valve into the reaction vessel for reaction, thereby measuring the moisture content in the valve.

On arrival, the VicoMeter engineer first checked the accessories with the customer, then completed the installation of the Karl Fischer moisture analyzer, injected a small amount of deionized water (about 60 μL the first time) to let the cell equilibrate on its own, and installed the remaining accessories. The nitrogen pressure regulator was connected to the cylinder, the tubing was routed through a drying bottle (to dry the nitrogen further), then through a flow meter, and finally the outlet line was connected directly to the titration cell using a 1/8-to-1/8 gas adapter. Nitrogen pressure was set to 0.1 MPa and flow to 40 mL/min, the Karl Fischer injection delay was set to 150 s, and the analyzer was allowed to stabilize. The valve to be tested was connected at both ends with 1/8 tubing; the analyzer's start button was pressed and the tubing was quickly attached to the gas adapter, after which the instrument completed the test automatically. Three on-site tests all returned around 1500 μg — stable, repeatable results — and the customer was very satisfied with the training.

Which Samples Can a Karl Fischer Moisture Analyzer Test? Which Samples Can a Karl Fischer Moisture Analyzer Test?

As a classic moisture determination method, Karl Fischer titration is suitable for measuring water in a wide range of organic and inorganic substances. Because compounds vary in their properties, they fall into two categories: those that can be analyzed directly and those that cannot.

Karl Fischer Moisture Analyzers Karl Fischer Moisture Analyzers

A Karl Fischer moisture analyzer is an instrument designed on the Karl Fischer method to measure moisture content in materials. It is also known as a Karl Fischer moisture meter, fully automatic Karl Fischer moisture titrator, intelligent Karl Fischer trace moisture analyzer, or Fischer-method moisture meter, and comes in two types: coulometric and volumetric (titrimetric).

How to Ensure Moisture Reacts Fully with Karl Fischer Reagent How to Ensure Moisture Reacts Fully with Karl Fischer Reagent

As a professional instrument for moisture determination, the Karl Fischer moisture analyzer is widely used across industries. Ensuring that moisture reacts fully with the Karl Fischer reagent is the key to accurate moisture measurement in samples. How can this be achieved? That is the question this article answers. As an expert in the moisture field, VicoMeter walks you through it.
