Femto Photonics purchased the WKT-A3 Karl Fischer trace moisture analyzer. The WKT-A3 "Vision" Karl Fischer trace moisture analyzer uses the coulometric Karl Fischer principle to rapidly determine trace moisture down to 1 ppm in solids, liquids and powders within one minute, with built-in printing. Compliant with multiple national and international moisture determination standards, the WKT-A3 includes eight moisture calculation formulas and six measurement methods for all industries, and is widely used in chemical, petroleum, pharmaceutical, power, food, research and testing sectors.
Coulometric (coulometry) principle; 5.7-inch display with keypad operation and automatic calculation; measuring range 1 ppm–100%; 200 automatically stored results with history query at any time; complies with multiple national standards and suits virtually every industry.

Upon arrival, our engineer first went through the packing list with the customer, then proceeded directly to installation and customer training. The customer's sample was isopropanol, which is produced by hydrogenating acetone, so different processes result in different acetone contents. If the acetone content is low, ordinary pyridine-free Karl Fischer reagent can be used; but if the acetone content is high, an aldehyde/ketone reagent is required—otherwise aldehydes and ketones in the sample react with methanol in an acetalization reaction that produces water and seriously interferes with the test.
The customer's sample contained little aldehyde/ketone content, so our engineer used ordinary pyridine-free coulometric Karl Fischer reagent. Three tests gave results of 0.0722%, 0.0681% and 0.0705%—stable results meeting the customer's requirements.
