The customer purchased our latest WKT-A9 Precision Karl Fischer trace moisture analyzer (coulometric). The WKT-A9 Precision Karl Fischer trace moisture analyzer is a coulometric Karl Fischer moisture titrator independently designed and developed by our company with proprietary intellectual property rights — a Karl Fischer moisture meter for mid-to-high-end applications.
Coulometric (coulometry) principle, ideal for trace-level testing; 5-inch color touchscreen with smart operation, automatic result calculation, and freely configurable sample IDs; complies with multiple national standards and suits virtually every industry.
8 moisture calculation formulas, 6 determination methods, and 8 end-point detection algorithms
Automatic drift compensation, automatic subtraction of ambient and background moisture, and self-diagnostic fault alerts
One-touch start for reliable results
Outstanding automation — connects seamlessly to the Karl Fischer oven for difficult samples
RS232 interface for connection to a PC, printer, PLC, or LIMS
Upon arrival, the VicoMeter engineer inspected the instrument and, confirming it was in good condition, began the standard installation. The customer needed to measure moisture inside the copper tubes of air-conditioning piping, so VicoMeter additionally supplied a nitrogen pressure-reducing valve, a flow meter and PTFE tubing. The engineer first connected the nitrogen regulator to the nitrogen cylinder (99.999% high-purity nitrogen prepared by the customer), then connected the flow meter. After the instrument equilibrated, nitrogen was supplied (0.1 MPa, 40 mL/min); once the instrument re-equilibrated, testing could begin. First, the PTFE line feeding the titration cell was cut in the middle and rejoined with a union. Both ends of the copper tube were fitted with 1/8" PTFE lines and unions. The fitting on the cell-feed line was removed and connected to the line from the copper tube. The engineer pressed the instrument's start-injection key, quickly connected the remaining lines, and waited for the reaction to finish. The instrument then displayed moisture content automatically—in micrograms, whereas the customer needed mg/m²—so the engineer converted the value to milligrams and divided by the copper tube's surface area to obtain mg/m².
The final test result at the customer's site was about 10 mg/m², with an error well below their 50 mg/m² standard, meeting the customer's specification. Because the required result was in mg/m², the desired value was easy to derive. For the different needs of different industries, VicoMeter provides moisture measurement solutions best suited to each industry.
