Lunan Pharmaceutical purchased two WKT-C9 Karl Fischer moisture analyzers from us. The WKT-C9 Karl Fischer moisture titrator is a volumetric Karl Fischer moisture titrator designed and developed in-house with independent intellectual property rights — a Karl Fischer moisture analyzer for mid-to-high-end applications.

The VicoMeter WKT-C9 fully automatic Karl Fischer moisture analyzer uses the volumetric Karl Fischer principle to rapidly determine moisture down to 10 ppm, measuring solids, liquids, and powders within 30 seconds. Its built-in RS232 port connects printers, balances, computers, and other peripherals, and it stores 200 data sets with real-time query. A further upgrade of the Victor smart-series moisture analyzer, the C9 delivers a higher level of automation and precision. It complies with multiple national and international moisture standards as well as pharmacopoeia requirements and is widely used in chemicals, petroleum, pharmaceuticals, power, food, batteries, plastics, research, and testing.

VicoMeter at the Customer Site

The two Karl Fischer moisture analyzers purchased by Lunan Pharmaceutical from VicoMeter were installed in Workshops No. 52 and No. 53. This was VicoMeter's first cooperation with Lunan Pharmaceutical. After confirming the schedule with Lunan Pharmaceutical, the VicoMeter technical engineer officially arrived on site on March 4, 2019, and the installation was completed smoothly.

Many pharmaceutical companies require 3Q qualification, and we encountered a problem during the 3Q qualification process: the customer had previously used a pipette for testing — simply entering the sample volume gave the moisture content — but the WKT-C9 defaults to the gravimetric method, meaning the sample weight must be entered to obtain the moisture content. After communicating with our design department, the VicoMeter technical engineer suggested that the customer purchase a balance dedicated for use with the pipette to solve this problem. However, after internal discussions, Lunan Pharmaceutical considered this approach infeasible because their final moisture result had to be expressed in ML/100ML. The VicoMeter technical engineer then urgently held a phone and video conference with our software engineers to discuss a solution. Together they found that the units in our algorithm could be modified — the volume could simply be entered where the weight was originally input. After reaching a consensus with Lunan Pharmaceutical, the engineer verified this method with 95% alcohol, and the test results proved it feasible. In the end, the VicoMeter technical engineer successfully completed the installation of both moisture analyzers for Lunan Pharmaceutical.

On-site installations always come with a series of challenges, but with the joint efforts of the VicoMeter team, we can always provide customers with a moisture measurement solution that fits their needs.
