When measuring moisture with a Karl Fischer analyzer, most samples can be added directly to the generator cell/titration cell for simple, accurate testing. Some samples, however, cannot be added directly because their moisture is not released naturally or they undergo side reactions with the Karl Fischer reagent — for example powders, granules, pastes, and oxidizing inorganic salts.

For samples that cannot be added directly to the cell, pairing the WKT-V2 Karl Fischer oven for gas-phase extraction is the perfect solution. The sample is placed in a vial and moved onto the oven, heated to a specific temperature (up to 300˚C), and the moisture is extracted and carried into the cell by dry air or nitrogen, then measured perfectly.

VicoMeter at the Customer Site

As the WKT-V1 was pre-stocked with accessories ready, assembly and shipment were completed quickly. We shipped immediately after Ruijie's order, and installation went smoothly thanks to the customer's preparation. During commissioning, 2 µl of pure water read 1956 µg — within range — but 0.2 µl and customer samples read high. After the customer replaced the nitrogen, data improved but low-moisture samples still erred; after a meeting with our chief engineer, the molecular sieve was dried and the data normalized.

This issue occurs mainly because the molecular sieve has been stored at the company for too long and has absorbed moisture from the air, causing abnormal test data. VicoMeter is committed to providing customers with the most professional service; as long as the customer provides the specific conditions of the installation site, we can offer the optimal solution.

Jiangsu Ruijie Plastic Pipes & Fittings

Founded in 1998 as a China–New Zealand joint venture, Jiangsu Ruijie Plastic Pipes & Fittings Co., Ltd. became wholly state-owned in 2008 after the Chinese shareholders acquired the foreign shares (approved by the Huai'an SASAC). First in China to introduce imported technology for new PE/PPR water-supply pipes, it now makes PE/PPR pipes and fittings, MPP cable conduit, PERT floor-heating pipes, gas pipes, steel-reinforced PE spiral corrugated pipes, HDPE double-wall corrugated pipes, and U-PVC wire conduit, with ISO9001 and ISO14001 certification — a high-tech enterprise integrating trade, R&D, production, sales, installation, and service.

Karl Fischer Moisture Analyzers Karl Fischer Moisture Analyzers

A Karl Fischer moisture analyzer is an instrument designed on the Karl Fischer method to measure moisture content in materials. It is also known as a Karl Fischer moisture meter, fully automatic Karl Fischer moisture titrator, intelligent Karl Fischer trace moisture analyzer, or Fischer-method moisture meter, and comes in two types: coulometric and volumetric (titrimetric).

What Is the Difference Between Coulometric and Volumetric Karl Fischer Titration? What Is the Difference Between Coulometric and Volumetric Karl Fischer Titration?

The biggest difference between the volumetric and coulometric methods is that I2differ in their source: in the volumetric method, I2comes from the titrant reagent, while in the coulometric method, I2is produced by electrolyzing an electrolyte containing I-is generated by electrolysis of the electrolyte.

Which Samples Can a Karl Fischer Moisture Analyzer Test? Which Samples Can a Karl Fischer Moisture Analyzer Test?

As a classic moisture determination method, Karl Fischer titration is suitable for measuring water in a wide range of organic and inorganic substances. Because compounds vary in their properties, they fall into two categories: those that can be analyzed directly and those that cannot.

What Calibration Standards and Verification Methods Are Available for Karl Fischer Moisture Determination? What Calibration Standards and Verification Methods Are Available for Karl Fischer Moisture Determination?

VicoMeter Karl Fischer moisture analyzers are typically calibrated and verified using standards such as methanol-water standard solutions, water-containing sodium tartrate, distilled (deionized or pure) water, and water-saturated toluene. This article introduces the calibration substances, calibration methods, and accuracy verification procedures commonly used with VicoMeter coulometric and volumetric Karl Fischer moisture analyzers.

How to Ensure Moisture Reacts Fully with Karl Fischer Reagent How to Ensure Moisture Reacts Fully with Karl Fischer Reagent

As a professional instrument for moisture determination, the Karl Fischer moisture analyzer is widely used across industries. Ensuring that moisture reacts fully with the Karl Fischer reagent is the key to accurate moisture measurement in samples. How can this be achieved? That is the question this article answers. As an expert in the moisture field, VicoMeter walks you through it.
